The Society for the Study of Education in the Middle East & Muslim World is a graduate-student run organization centered in Teachers College, Columbia University (New York City).  The society is not associated with any political or religious affiliation.  The geographic range includes not only the greater Middle East, but also those countries with a majority Muslim population.  Topical interests of members range from secular nationalism to various religious groups and education. Membership is open to all.

The Purpose of the Society

 

Networking researchers (students and faculty) in sharing research and collaborating on academic projects
 

Facilitating forums and panel discussions about issues pertaining to education in the Middle East and Muslim world
 

Publishing conference proceedings, as well as hosting theses, dissertations, working papers, college level syllabi, and resources relevant to education in the Middle East and Muslim world
